Hi Guys I blew my tranny on the way to work today. I came to a stop at the ramp at the end of the FDR drive and the car started stuttering and stalled. When I restarted and put in drive the car would stall. ended up having to tow the car to my mechanic 13 mi away.
He gave me the worst news possible and says I need to replace the entire transmission.
I looked on ebay but the AWD trannys are rare. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?
I don't know where to begin. The mechanic gave me quote. $1200 for a tranny with a 6mo warranty and $1500 for a 12mo warranty plus an additional $800 for labor. Does this sound right?

$2000 for a tranny replacement is actually pretty fair.
