Default 98 S70 turbo idle problem

Hi
I have a problem with my 98 s70 turbo. For a while I have had proble with acceleratinon. When I would kick the turbo it would go flat loose power untill I get out of the turbo it would run fine. A few days ago after sitting with the moter running at a light and the giving it gas it would let off a bunch of smoke. that stopped the next day. 2 days later yhe car would idle fine out of gear but when you put it in gear it idled rough and run real rough under a load.
Stills idle great while not in gear.
Any Ideas
Thanks
Scott

Check for air leaks at the idle control valve. Make sure the hose on the front end is not torn.

they'll pull your codes for free at autozone or advanced auto. Those codes will take a lot of the guess work out of this for you.

I did take it in when the check engin light came on a long time ago and it gave them a generic emission code. but that was as far as it could go.
Around that time to I seemed to spring a oil leak some where. Not coming from the pan or head or valve cover. This car if frustrating. I love the car and want t fix it as it beats an american car in reliability.

I need more information to help you. the codes are designated numbers, those would be very helpful. I'm also curious to know what color the smoke was. How does the oil look?
Get those code numbers, open the hood of that car and see if you can spot that oil leak. if you can't, clean the motor and have a look around. Have you done any work to it already (plugs wires, cap and rotor) to bring it to stage 0?

Hello
The code I was givin was P0455. The smoke was brown blue black. It only lasted about about a hour until I parked. The nexted day it was gone. Oil is good no water in it. No oil in the coolent.
Have not checked the plugs, cap or roter yet but should soon. I have and keep the motor clean. the is a small drip at one of the oil lines at the turbo but not mor than 1 drop every once in a while but it is up high and can not see wher it is as it it is covered by cross member. When I am under hood and give it gas manually it smoks from the drivers side. But when I get under the car I can nott see the leak. So frustrating.
Now the car will run smooth as long as I do not push it or use the turbo as does not feel like it is missing untill it sits at an idle for a few min. Then it starts to mis and will miss untill i get the rpms up up on the freeway.
When I say miss I mean like it is mis firing or choking the motor off and on.
I have checked mosted of the vacumm lines and they are in the same condition as before old but not cracked.
