Smile Access to s70 headlights to fit R8 lights

Hi, Anyone advise me how easy to get headlight lenses off to fit R8 style light strips. Anything else to take off / out to access them. Would I need new seals etc on refitting. Thanks in advance.

This is a Huge MOD with the VW mK guys! I have seen a ton and I have seen a few on other 850's. You should be able to take the headlight out easy and then tap on for the LED's.... This has been done http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index...&#entry1295363

Please don't make them like the OP of that that linked thread. Those look ugly.

Default Found instructions on YouTube !!!

Messing around on YouTube, found lots of "HOW TO" items for volvo's, including the following

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieXVC...eature=related this is how to remove headlight assembly from a S70

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-r7X...eature=related this is how to change the lens on a S70

Loads of other stuff related to Volvo repairs on there. Just a simple search.
Hope this helps some people.
Happy hunting

Dave

It is simple.

1. Open your hood.

2. Unscrew the three 10mm bolts in the back of each headlight.

3. Unhook the wiring harness.

4. Take off the 6 or so clips all around the headlight lens and housing.

5. Your done. It should pop off.

To put them back on reverse directions.

Job done yesterday, neon strips fitted. LOOK GREAT !!
Will post pic's when camera found.
Got to be careful of clips attaching indicator lens when removing from body.
Took 2 hours for first removal, install of neon strip and replacement.
45 minutes for second light.

Still trying to find camera..........
Strips of LED from ebay work out at £25 delivered for 2 x 24cm strips with 1 LED per cm.
These strips are totally flexible, so you can make whatever shape you want.
When you come to fit, the rims of headlight bowls are 'corrugated' edge, and will not glue in place.
Suggest drill small holes in edge of bowls, and cable tie in place.
Tried other methods of fixing, and they slip or move out of place.
Only speaking from experience, not "telling you what to do"........

Simple in the end.
Remove headlight...3 nuts to undo
Remove glass...about 5/6 clips
The worst part is getting the LED strips to stay in place.
I drilled small holes in the edge of headlamp lens,
then used clear cable ties to hold in place
Tried glue initially, but uneven surfaces meant did not stick ! !

Get loads of comments.
Even got stopped twice by the police.......
One of whom only wanted to know where I got from and how much
Perfectly legal, passed MOT last week with blue not white side bulbs

Hope this helps
