Default axle replacement

I have a 1998 s70 w/15100 miles. I would like any advise on how to change the axles both right and left side?
I noticed that both cv boots are cracked and heard it was eaiser to change out the axles. Is is too difficult to do my self or should I bring it to my mechanic?
thakns for your help

Welcome to the forum CJBassj8.

Are they starting to click.
If they are just cracked in the boot, I would run them until they actually needed to be replaced.

Welcome CBass, I would inspect bearings inside of the boots, to see how bad of shape they are in. Mine were thrashed at 130K, they started to not grab on take off. They are not difficult to replace, but if you are not comfortable with the project, by all means take it to a reputable shop.

Thanks for all your help. The axels are not clicking yet, I figured i would wait a little to replace the axels. I only put about 50 miles a week on the car.
