Hello I have a 1999 Volvo S70 with ECC and lately the A/C has not been blowing cold. The compressor cycles every 2 seconds when the A/C is switched on so I thought that the refrigerant level was low. When I went to recharge it just now (DIY recharge kit), the pressure gauge showed the system pressure rising from 25 PSI to 45 PSI and back to 25 PSI as the compressor cycled. Since the pressure stayed between 25 and 45 PSI, I decided not to add any refrigerant. I am assuming that my compressor is bad so I was wondering how I go about replacing it? Thanks.

 

Have a shop do a service on it.
I think it is low on freon.

 

Mine did the same thing and the pressures did what yours did but I added freon anyway and it's much better. The freon in the cans is not extremely pressurized so I just pput as much in as the system would take. Even with the pressures showing like yours it took almost a whole can.

 

Thanks for the replies. I ended up adding the can of refrigerant and low and behold the pressure stabilized at 30 PSI. The A/C is ice cold now. Thanks very much for your help.

 

Is the low pressure port you put it in right behind the passenger side headlight?
