Default ETS light on help!

My 99 non-turbo fwd has been getting this ets light on for sometime. I put on my code reader and it comes up with false code. I turn off the light but than comes on again. I have tried searching ets on this forum but I get nothing. I cleaned the throttle body and the car runs 100%. Why is this light on?
Thanks

The light is on because it sees an issue with the throttle body.

Thanks tech, I wanted to make sure it was my TB. It there a way to see what is wrong with it? I took it off and cleaned it but just the flap and the air way. Before the light went on I did notice that at cruising speeds the throttle was a little hesitant but nothing crazy but after I clean the
Tb it went away but I never got a light. Thanks for the response.

You can try a generic scanner to read the ECU. But some scanners will not read it. Sadly that is how Volvo made it.

Is there someone who rebuilds them? From what I understand a used one will not work and only a new one from volvo will work and needs to be programed. They want $700 for parts and labor.

These people do. If you can install it your self there is also no software needed. They install the software them selves before sending it to you.

This was a major warranty issue for Volvo, and they offered extended warranies - 200K or 10 years - at least in Canada and I'm sure similar warranties were available in other countries.

Lot's of similar stories and a forum dedicated to the ETS issue here:

Mine crapped out on my 2000 S70 a month before the 10 year warranty was up. Perhaps if you go to a dealership or have a good relationship with the shop they can do something for you....

Thanks for the links and the help. I went to the dealer and they said it was way out of time so they wouldn't do anything. I did notice yesterday that the light went out for a little but then came back on. The car still runs good though.
