Default Gear shift ****

Hello,

The button on my gear shift **** frequently gets stuck and I have to deliberately give it some help to its original position. It was rather frustrating coz the ignition key won't come out if the the button stays inside the **** even if the gear is on Park. Would a hint of WD40 do the trick of do I have to shop for a new shift ****? [&:]

Thanks.

You can try WD but the plastic usually breaks and thats why it doesn't work right.

It is cake to replace.Where the boot meets the **** turn the boot and pull down to release the boot. Then with the e-brake on shift into either N or D then pull up on the **** hard to remove and install the new one.

Just when I thought I wasn't having this common problem, it started becoming an issue for about a month. Shortly thereafter a little corner broke off (bottom right of the button) of the plastic button causing it to work fine, its really only hardly noticeable and not visible to anyone who is not looking for it specifically. I sure as hell ain't spending the $75 on that lol.

Default Found a cheap replacement part

Ebay, username volvonest.....here is the Ebay link

Volvo Gear Shift Shifter **** Button Repair Kit for 850 S70 V70 | eBay

but if it does not open, just search the username volvonest in Ebay and I am sure you will find them. I got the repalcement button with a new spring included for 19.99 SHIPPED.

Passing this along since I spent a while searching for on cheaper than IPD...and found it. Worked perfect on our 98 S70, works like new again.

just passing information along....enjoy
