Does anyone know how to remove the gear shifter **** on the S70? My button is sticking preventing us from removing the key and I want to take it off so I can see if there is a way to fix it.

The shifer on the S90 just pulls off, not sure if it's the same on the S70?

 

Believe it or not, you just pull straight up - HARD! Helps to have it in D or below.
But you won't be able to fix it - little plastic parts are broken (bet you thought you could lube it up - won't work).
Fortunately, the good folks over at IPD sell the parts you need.

The instructions are good but it helps to pay extra attention to the way they fit during disassembly. 20 minute job and your hands won't get dirty.

 

I have the part already. I just wasn't sure how to get it off. Then it has the boot as well. Since we were a little pressed for time I decided to wait till my daughter's next visit to fix it. We are suppose to get snow today so she went back to college a little sooner than usual.

but if it does not open, just search the username volvonest in Ebay and I am sure you will find them. I got the repalcement button with a new spring included for 19.99 SHIPPED.

Passing this along since I spent a while searching for on cheaper than IPD...and found it. Worked perfect on our 98 S70, works like new again.
