Angry Gear shift **** removal???

I want to replace the dried out and cracked gear shifter boot and have no idea how to remove it. At the bone yard I had to braek it off but upon inspection can find no easy way to R&R this part!

Are you wanting to remove the entire assembly after disconnecting the cable?

Thanks, Tech. it worked like a charm. I tried all the other methods on the Forums. So finally I said, OK, I'll pull it off and put both hands on it and knee on the seat, and yanked. And lo and behold, out it came.
