how to adjust neutral safety switch (pnp)
I installed a new neutral safety switch on my wifes volvo. It looks to be adjusted according to the diagram I have. I turned the selector switch all the way to the right and then back two clicks for reverse and neutral. After installation, it seems to shift through all the gears correctly and the reverse light comes on. However, it will not start in neutral. This leads me to believe it is not adjusted correctly. Can anyone tell me what adjustments to make? Thank you.
Thanks for the reply. The problem is solved. I went back in and made sure the gear shift was in neutral and the shift lever on the neutral safety switch was in neutral. Shifted the selector lever on the safety switch all the way to the right and then back two clicks. Loosened up the two 17mm bolts. I used a pair of tweezers on the stem. Pinched the tweezers tight. It showed the safety switch to be slightly off of the center line. I rotated the safety switch until the tweezers lined up with the center mark on the safety switch. I tightened everything down and tested. Starts in park and neutral, shifts through all gears, reverse lights come on properly. Yeah !!!!!
