Default Just bought 98 s70 Volvo!!! Help

I just bought a used 98 s70 t5 Volvo this afternoon! And im in love! i love the inside and the performance of it. But my car has problems do to it was used. It passed safety inspections but not emissions and they say its miss firing a lot and just a whole but of stuff that im worried about and i don't know where to start. Also they say its leaking oil from the engine and transmission and i was wondering if i could put a seal on that or something to fix it! It's not a bad leak but i rather not have a car that leaks oil. I need some advice and things to look forward to with my Volvo i am wanting to lower it and get a body kit.. Is there any decent or good looking body kits around?

Congratulations on your new T5! I remember how excited I was when I first got mine as well. Mine came with some problems as well, but once you fix them, you will not be disappointed with this car's performance. Here's to years of enjoyment, these cars are built to last

There are actually a few sites online that offer pretty good deals for replacement parts and parts to make your car look better (not that it even needs it though ). Half the time I have bought from FCP Groton and IPD USA online. For other more complicated repairs, I've just gone to the dealer to let them take care of it. Finding a local trusted mechanic that specializes in Volvo is a pretty good move as well as sometimes these are pretty costly repairs.

www.ipdusa.com and http://www.fcpgroton.com/

You should really focus on a stage 1 before you go carzy doing other things.

rspi beat me to it, those are the sites online. I do agree with the statement. It seems there are quite a bit of little inconvenient things that can go wrong with this car, but nothing that would affect the performance of the car. Judging from experience, any issues dealing with engine, transmission, steering, and various fluids should be a definite first on your checklist before cosmetic improvements.

Going back to the original post, How bad is the oil leak? How often do you have to add oil basically will tell you how bad or you can clean the motor off and inspect for where the oil is leaking from. I would definitely get that misfire figured out first. Transmission leak maybe next if it is worse than the oil leak, though that could be just a line or pan gasket or something easy. Either way, body kits and aesthetic add on's should probably be well after it is mechanically sound and you have been driving it a while and are sure you want to keep it a while.
