I have never done this to my car, but have to two of my friends cars. We didn't put it in the fuel tank. We sucked it into the system via a vacuum line.

Does it say on the can that you can put it into your fuel?

You CAN put seafoam directly into the gas, and it will clean the injectors, though I think seafoam is overkill for that, and I have seen other cars run rough until it's gone. If you want to clean things up, seafoam CAREFULLY through a vacuum line, and good quality injector cleaner in the tank. (or, better yet, the pro stuff that you actually run the car on until the can's empty, though you have to have the equipment/ go to a shop.)
