Default Starter replacement ???

My starter went over the weekend and the new one should be here by tonight. I saw rsvi's video doing it on the 850, but my S70 looks to have subtle differences. I also called by good friend who's a tech and he looked up what had to be removed on Mitchell or ALLData which stated just the air box assembly? If one of you has done one, I'd really appreciate a reply as I'd like complete the job tonight. The car is stuck outside and it's supposed to POUR in my area tomorrow.

I removed the battery, cooling fan and shroud as one unit, and some of the turbo/inter-cooler piping. One thing I noticed is that there was no rear support bracket for the starter, so I have one ordered. Could the fact that the bracket was missing have anything to do with the flywheel being worn?

The rear bracket has been deleted by Volvo. It was simply over engineering. My guess is that the bad starter damaged the flywheel, or vise versa.

That's interesting, but makes sense. I wonder why the dealers still sell it???
