Tire size for the stocker 15 incher
I have got a 98 s70 GLT with the stock 15x6.5" wheels. i know the stock tire size is 195/60/15 however i would like to fit something wider. I was thinking something along the lines of 205's or 215's. Called tire rack and of course they don't recommand anything larger than what's specified fromt he factory. However, i do know a 6.5 inch rim can easily fit 205's and 215's without any rubbing issue.
Has anyone donet his before? if so what size of tires you use? 205/55/15's?
thank you ahead of time!

Did some research and found that the overall diameter between 195/60/15 vs 205/55/15 are marginal and would throw off speedo by roughly 0.4% which is acceptible in my mind. just wondering if anyone had done this before and experienced any rubbing issues.

The car is FWD, all i'm trying to do from 195 to 205 or perhaps 215 is just to add some more width to the tires and in 205/55/15 size there are more selections at least on tire rack for the type of tires i am looking for.
Why are you trying to add more width though?
And I know thw S70 is FWD. They only made them in FWD and or AWD. My RWD comment was to be made that if your going to the track or something your wasting your time with wider tires on a FWD you wont gain anything.

Blaiz, my point exactly. with all due respect, my s70 although is a good daily driver, is not a good car to turn into a drag queen. all i'm after is 1st, more tire selection, 2nd, a little wider doesn't really hurt for a daily driver.
I have 215/55/16's that fit fine. Speedo is a tiny bit off I know but negligable. Wider tires = more traction. Doesn't matter if you're talking RWD/AWD/FWD. I think visibly the 10mm wider fills the fenders a little better.
I should have gone a 5/10 series shorter to give it a lower stance. The old tires were nearly bald and the new tires have a good 1/2" of tread so the tires look a little meaty from the side but I like them overall.
