Default Transaxle oil

I see no spec for it it really looks like engine oil. My shaft seal is leaking and I can't fix it yet.

So where does the transaxle get it's oil from?

Okay the reason I was asking it did not look like Automatic Tranny fluid. I guess I need to flush my tranny.

AWD or FWD?

If AWD you need special fluid. Forgot the spec at the moment, but its expensive.

FWD on unemployment so money is tight to repair the car.

DEX III

Its the transmission, not the transaxle, they are one unit.

On AWD models you have "angle gear" which transfers power also to the rear axle. The AWD also have different transmission which requires special lubricant.

I use the cheap Wal-Mart stuff and do the 3 drain/fill method.
