Default Vibration and braking

When I come to a stop in my 98 S70, there's a wicked vibration that seems to come from the rear at the end of the stop. Any ideas?

Yeah... sounds like warped rotors to me, too... is there any noticeable pulsation in the brake pedal?
It could also be a suspension component, such as a bushing, beginning to wear out. But warped rotors sounds more likely.

It doesn't seem like the pedal is pulsating, and I did just have the rear shocks replaced...should they have replaced anything other than the shocks?

I also have a 98 S70 with the same problem. It doesnt do it all the time but when it does it's really bad. The pedal doesnt vibrate but the whole car seems to shake and vibrate...and itspretty loud. I havent had my rotors looked at yet so I cant give you any help. But your not the only one with this problem.

Probably some worn suspension components. If you just had your struts replaced at the rear, look there first. Make sure the bolts are all tight. Lift the whole back end of the car off the ground, support it on jackstands, but not touching any suspension components, get under there, and start shaking things. You'll find the problem pretty quickly if the vibration is that bad. Look especially for worn- out lateral link and control/ trailing arm bushings.

If the steering wheel shakes, it's probably a warped rotor but I had a similar problem with mine and it turned out to be a totally worn out passenger side motor mount causing problems. I'd check that as well.

I've been having similar problems as well. I suspected warped rotors, but I got those replaced and it stopped for a few weeks, but came back eventually.

My brake pedal vibrates ridiculously along with the entire car when I brake hard or long. Usually at low speeds I feel nothing, as it only happens over 45mph.
Any ideas to what it could be? I hope it isn't the ABS.

The new rotors could be warped.

Check your front passenger side motor mount. When mine was bad, I had a loud clunk when shifting gears, the car would make a growling sound from the front end during braking and shake and also make a loud growling when turning.

I'm suspecting it's the rotors, because I still have the original rear brakes and I just turned 63,000 miles.

Default Vibration

Thought I would bring this old post back up after My ABS took a dive and the car started with the "wicked vibration".. Everyone who has not experienced this, including "mechanics" are quick to say its the rotors... Well, IT"S NOT WARPED ROTORS! This is a very high speed, very rapid vibration throughout the entire car when braking at any speed..Not a pulsation like from a warped rotor... If you have ever felt the abs kick in on slippery roads , well imagine that but from all 4 wheels at its full operation speed...It vibrates the car so bad, you can't even use the rear view because its shaking so bad..lol. Anyway, its abs related, most likely from a bad abs modual or maybe a contaminated wheel speed sensor.. I"ll repost this weekend after looking into it.
