Default window control switch

Does any one know how diffacult it is to change the switch in the whindow controler driver's door?
I think that the switch has gone bad. The windows quit working, so I checked the fuses and they all seemed ok, so then I tested the switch again and heard a "shorting" sound and a little smoke come from the switch. I am thnking the switch has a short. Any help or sugestion would be great.

Master window switch is bad.
You can use a small hook tool and pull it out.
But you have to replace the intire switch assembly.

Where would be the best place to buy another one? Would you suggest an OEM? I want to get one from www.switchdoctor.net but I am skeptical. They claim to use better materials than original switches and they are only $90. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

I have seen some aftermarket switches and don't like them at all.
I would say go OEM.

Erie used Volvo parts sells them four $65 and gives a lifetime warranty. That is the price they gave me for the 850. I ended up buying one from a guy on volvospeed.com though for $55.

Hi, I just noticed this thread and I want to clarify that I'm not touting the aftermarket switches I stock as superior to OEM in any way -- but my lifetime warranty IS better than the standard 12 month OEM warranty. The aftermarkets are designed to be virtually identical in appearance and function. I have detailed installation instructions available to anyone on my site: https://www.switchdoctor.net -- it's an easy job that can be done in minutes!
