Default 2000 s80 transmission solenoid HELP

i got a customers 2000 s-80 non turbo.
originally i got engine codes P0751- shift solenoid A performance stuck open
and P1618.

I ordered all 4 solenoids from GM as they were alot cheaper., i replaced them and after the job the car went back into limp home mode(starting in 3rd gear) and the engine light came back on. this time the P0751 code is gone but i still get the P1618 code. i used my cheap generic scanner to get these codes.

So i brought it to the dealer and the scanned the car. A whole list of codes came up with 2 hard codes- shift solenoid 1 and an srs seat buckle. they told me that they can no clear any codes until the hard codes are fixed. with a generic code reader you can clear the codes and see which ones come back. the very expensive volvo scanner can not do that. that does not make sense.

Anyways i got my neighbours expensive scanner went into the TCM and cleared the solenoid code (TCM 000B- shift solenoid S1 hydraulic fault) and then cleared the check engine light and went for a drive. they both came back on and now i am lost. i dont wanna have to replace the transmission. i have been reading, one guy replaced it and still had the same problem.

has anyone seen this to be a wiring problem?

I only see those codes from bad transmissions.

have you ever tried to replace the solenoids?
in your experience would you go with a rebuilt or new transmission.
and do you know where to get either for a good price?

i have already done the solenoid job, and if i do the transmission job, and it still has the same problem due to a wiring problem, then i am screwed.

what exactly goes wrong when these codes appear?

Yes have tried the solenoid and still the same problem. We have installed used tranny's.

Rebuilts are usually junk as well.

It is a pressure issue with the fluid system in the tranny.

Not sure if you can go with the newer one or not have not tried it yet.
As long as it is a GM tranny it should work. Also compare the wiring between the 2 and make sure they match.

I have done a bunch of used ones.

I just stumbled upon this thread and thought i wou;ld say this.
replacing the solenoids did not work the fault was in the valve body, i actually had to replace the transmission. the car never had that issure or codes again.
