Can anyone tell me if my 2000 s80 steering rack is speed assist or not from my vin? My dealer didn"t want to tell me, to make it hard to to cross shop him. All he would tell me is $1355 (american). My last six of my vin is 115517, those were the numbers he asked me for. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Also if there is any other way to tell other than the vin that would be ok too, I did search here and no definite answer was given on a similar post.
I may try to jack it up and look underneath for a wire to the rack, but not sure if you can see it or not? thanks again

 

When i had my rack rebuilt i had the same problem (99 S80 T6), there IS a speed sensor on the rack, im not sure where since i was not there when it was rebuilt, my car did have it i believe
call another dealer, and if they dont tell you then call volvo usa (or whereever you are located)... they SHOULD tell you..

what was the excuse that dealer told you ?

 

called volvo usa and got another dealer who told me it had speed assist.
