Default Car is possessed

My 2001 S80 ran great yesterday - today my wife go in and before she could get out of the yard, the DIM went completely dark, the drivers door switches all went dark - driver window stuck halfway open. Engine still running, as is AC. No turn signals or bright lights - headlights on. Drivers seat control do not work.
I got home.pulled and checked all fuses - All look good.
Decided to pull battery cables off and let it sit for a while. Connected the cables and started the car and everything was working...................for a few minutes. then it went back like it was. Did this several times and each time it cranked, everything worked. But as soon as I turned the key to off position, then restarted, it all went south again. Typically when I turn the key to off position, the Climate controls go dark, AC quits blowing, and lights come up inside the car. Now, the lights do not come up, the AC continues to blow.
The trunk lock does not work either.
Any ideas - Could it be a bad ignition switch?
Thanks for reading.........................

a few ideas: 1) wiggle key in ignition when the car is running to see if that changes anything 2) check system voltage with engine running 3) check volvowirngdiagrams.com for common relays, where the CEM is in a circuit path etc.

Default further info

I pulled fuse 28 (roof lamps , courtesy lamps, UEM garage door opener) this morning and now everything works except stuff on that circuit.
