This morning I thought my 1999 S80 T6 had a dead battery. I jump started it and drove to work. On the way the car was acting real weird... the ABS sensor light came on and off (mostly on), then the airbag light came on and off, then the battery light was coming on and off and the radio would lose reception occasionally. Also, sometime the tachometer was staying at 0 and I had very little power. Then it would jump to normal and I had power. Finally, when I arrived at work 1/2 hour later and turned the car off, it would not start again.

SO weird. Any suggestions?

 

Sounds like a Bad voltage regulator on the Alt.

 

Does that mean I should replace the Alt or can I just replace the voltage regulator?

 

You can buy the Brush pack/Voltage regulator. I think it is like $130.00 or so compaired to $350.00 for the Alt.
