Default Display: No Oil Pressure

Every once and a while the oil light comes on and I get a "NO OIL PRESSURE STOP ASAP" display. It basically flashes and doesn't happen very often, always at low rpm or idle. The manual states this could happen after hard running and if it goes away quickly it's not of much concern.

Well tonight it came on several times, too many for comfort. Is this the "O" ring thing.

This is my first Volvo, I've always wanted one.

My regular tech's are going to check it out tomorrow. It's a GoodYear shop and they do a great job on my American cars and I trust them. I've known the family for over 20 years.

Will they be able to detect if it's the O rings or do you just change them out and see if it helps.

Also, since they aren't a Volvo dealer can their computer get them all the information a dealer can. Do I have to go to a dealer to get a complete read of the computer the information?

And thanks a lot.

Not sure if they can read all the info or not depands on how much $$$ they spent on Diag equiptment.
If they read the oil pressure and it shows slightly low I would start with the o-rings.

Also if you can have them clean the throttle body as well.

Well, my regular guys took a look at it, but the warning light didn't come on and they would only attempt putting on a new sensor to see if that is what it was. Basically, suggested taking it to the dealer.

I have an appointment setup for Wednesday. The car runs fine but again today the warning "no oil pressure, stop engine asap" came on when I was stopped a red light. If I give a little gas to up the rpm it goes away.

But, now I don't know whether it's safe to drive to the dealer or have it towed. It only comes on after the engine is hot and at idle.

If it goes off does that mean it's corrected when not at idle?
