Help Replacing Driver Main Window Glass
This is embarrassing but at the risk of looking like an idiot to possibly save the 600$ the repair shop wanted, here goes: My car window was going up and down slowly but had not totally quit working. A friend suggested that I "try to pull the glass up." I did so, then the next time I rolled it down, the glass broke. I ordered the blue slider pieces and the glass on Ebay- $50. Then started to get in to the the interior door to see what's happened. (See pics below) The motor still works and it looks like the rubber piece that the glass slides up and down on worked its way out causing the window to barely move up or down. (I worked it back in a bit, reconnected the switch and it went down much easier). I have never worked on a car so my first question is- how is the old glass removed? Any next steps after that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
**UPDATE** That turned out to be relatively simple, I replaced the glass for $50 + the rubber strip (1$) that the glass slides against. Sorry to disappoint the local repair shop. : ) Realize this would have been a quick job for a man but at least now, will know this one before just paying somebody when it isn't necessary. Phew.
