I need to swap out the heater core in my 99 S-80. what do I need to know? What is the procedure and are there any tricks or pitfalls?

 

on my 2000 T6 I ended up pulling the entire dash out, it wasn't that hard, just time consuming. try to get the instruction off VADIS as they helped. Mkae sure you remember exactly where each screw/bolt comes from.

You 'might' be able to pull out the core from the left had side footwell, but when I tried it was too tight (Mines a right hand drive)

Be very very careful when you take the steering wheel off. Make sure your wheels are pointing straight ahead, make sure the steering wheel is level and lock off the contact wheel. I didn't and mine broke. Got an airbag light, and traction control (steering wheel angle sensor error) There are no bumps stops on the contact reel so if it goes to an end, you've just broken it.

If you're leak is just in the left hand side, it might be the o-rings for the pipes. deffinately worth replacing first as it'll save you many hours work.

The left hand drive you can slide it out without pulling the dash.

 

Really? damm, now I'm very jealous. That would have saved me many hours of work.
