I get a creaking noise in the back of my new S80, especially when going up a parking ramp or steep turns in a parking garage. Possibly worse in hot weather (live in Houston). Not sure if it is door seals, seats, suspension or some sort of body / chassis flexing issue.

 

How new? If it is still under warranty take it back to the dealer.

 

Is it more like a clunking noise?

 

I do intend to take it back to the dealer, when it is due for its first oil change in a month or two, however I was curious to see if this was a generic fault with the new model. The car is from April 07.

It is not a clunking sound. More like the leather back seat is creaking andsquelching in a rather sickly sounding way when I make a turn on a slope. As I said, I am not sure where it comes from - if indeed it is the seat or the doors, or something else.I am trying to pin it down before sounding like an idiot to thedealer.

 

I have a rear squeaking noise on my 2000 s80 though.

Lift up the trunk and bounce the rear right or left of your car. Hopefully you can pinpoint it.

I even removed spare tires and anything that's loosed.

My result? I don't know what's making that noise. It's more like a thin metal rubbing lightly.

I would not be embarassed at all about taking your car to the dealer when it's new.
Don't be sorry when the warranty runs out!
