Default please help - turn signal issues 2001 s80

Hello everyone, new to the Volvo community and trying to replace the front driver side turn signal has left me and everyone I’ve asked, completely stumped. I attempted to change the turn signal bulb that was completely out in the front a few days ago. Prior to changing the bulb, when I turned the indicator on, the side and back turn signals blinked, but the front didn’t because said bulb was dead. After replacing the dead bulb, now all three driver side indicator lights (front, side, and back) just stay on and lit. No blinking. Even without the indicator on. All three lights just shine bright any time the vehicle is on. I’ve tried fuses, the connectors and wires look pristine, for the life of me cannot find any flasher relay or unit for this year or model. I’m truly and utterly lost. I’d appreciate literally any tips that would possibly help here. (Also when I turn the indicator on, I get the message “left turn signal bulb failure” yet as I said the bulb turns on, just stays on and doesn’t blink)

(and yes, I’ve made sure it’s the correct bulb, connector is great, etc. this is day 3 of trying to figure out the issue, I need legit help here)

What bulb holder do you have? Grey 3 conductor for a 1157 twin filament bulb, or a black 2 conductor for a 1156 single filament bulb? Are you certain you are using the correct bulb for the correct socket?

If you have a grey 3 conductor socket and jam a 1156 single filament bulb in it - the two conductors for park and turn signals will touch - and cause the turn signals on that side to stay on (if your parking lights are on all the time due to your daytime running lamp settings) Or I have seen 1157 twin filament bulbs with the solder connections touching each other and cause the same (T/S on all the time)

So I recently did the taillights and was confusing my bulbs for a second. I have a grey conductor for for the twin filament but when I was looking up bulbs at my local auto store, it recommended 7507 bulb, which is what I have in the back for taillights and they work just fine. But I can see now the 1157 and 7507 are completely different. I’ll have to go buy some 1157 and see if it fixes the issue. I see on the Volvo website it calls for the 1157 but on sites like O’Reilly it says that isn’t a fit for my Volvo. We’ll see. Thank you for the bulb breakdown, it helped me realize I may in fact not have the correct bulb in.
