Default Shoud not be an issue

MY grandmother has a 2000 S80 with just turned 15,000 miles on it. I find myself in charge of maintainence on it but, I dont really mind driving it in for service as it is a wonderful car. It has only been dealer serviced yet things continually break. The front suspension makes a clunking when driven over moderate bumps and the last time I was filling the gas tank the pump did not click off and it overflowed. As embarassing as that was I am unclear if the car or pump has the mechanisim that is responsible for it to turn off. I was wondering if some of these issues could be as a result of the length of time it spends in the garage? Help in understanding this would be greatly appreciated.

The suspension could be your swaybar endlinks, CV Joints.

As for the gas I don't know.

I'm pretty sure the gas thing isn't an issue. I think that the pump senses the pressure to determine when to "stop" the pumping gas. I wouldn't worry about it, but this is just an educated guess.

The suspension noise is probably your sway bar links, they are known to wear out over time.

Noise could also be the spring seats.
