Shoud not be an issue
MY grandmother has a 2000 S80 with just turned 15,000 miles on it. I find myself in charge of maintainence on it but, I dont really mind driving it in for service as it is a wonderful car. It has only been dealer serviced yet things continually break. The front suspension makes a clunking when driven over moderate bumps and the last time I was filling the gas tank the pump did not click off and it overflowed. As embarassing as that was I am unclear if the car or pump has the mechanisim that is responsible for it to turn off. I was wondering if some of these issues could be as a result of the length of time it spends in the garage? Help in understanding this would be greatly appreciated.
I'm pretty sure the gas thing isn't an issue. I think that the pump senses the pressure to determine when to "stop" the pumping gas. I wouldn't worry about it, but this is just an educated guess.
