It's a 2000 Volvo S80 T6 twin turbo 2.8
It has the GM transmission.
why do you ask, any thoughts? I just want to take care of throttle body first before jumping into the transmission , as I have read that a bad TPS can cause transmission shifting issues . I'll try to make a video this weekend showing the symptoms.
Again thank you for all your help and advice.

That transmission has no easy quick fixes. The 5-cylinder model with that AW55/50 is very serviceable.

A complete rebuild is all that you can do.

The throttle body rebuild needs to be done anyway ,the driveability sucks . And it will be one more thing to check off the list.
p.s. how do I upload a video clip?
Thank you again for your help

I had mine rebuilt by local transmission ship at 60,000 miles. Has been working well, now I have 180,000 miles. Transmission oil change every 60,000 miles since then. GM recommends oil change every 50,000 for severe service for this transmission. I think using this transmission in S80 T6 qualifies for severe service.

Just wanted to give everyone a update , I replaced the throttle body a few days ago and it seemed to help with the shifting . I don't have to put it in manual mode anymore. And overall performance is great no more launching or stalling. Thank you everyone for your help.

I nursed one along like you for a while. It`s dying and is on life support now. I had that same solenoid code. It comes on as a result of clutch pack issues. The solenoid was fine in mine and wasn`t replaced during the rebuild

Default All this time it was a brake pedal position sensor.

All this time it was a bad or shorted out brake pedal position sensor (the one that goes into the brake booster) I disconnected it after doing some research and Bam the car is performing great. I did a lot of driving between yesterday and today and the car has never performed like this. I might have had a unique situation here.So should I replace the sensor or just leave it disconnected?

P.s. car dealer confirmed that the transmission was replaced while he had it came from a car with only 50,000 miles on it.

Logic would say leave it alone and it probably should be. However, if it were mine I couldn`t resist the temptation to connect the sensor back up and see what happens. Obviously, I am bad at listening to my own advice.

Strange how these cars freak out when a sensor goes bad and screws up the whole network.
I wonder if this has happened to anyone else.
Hopefully there wasn't much damage done driving it like it was for the past 8 months before realizing what the problem was.

Default An update on the transmission a week later.

Wow , I really am happy that I didn't have the transmission replaced or rebuilt.
A week later the car is still driving and performing great. I'm still getting used to it , driving for 9 months trying to be careful not to stress the transmission too much. And after unplugging the that sensor bam its like the whole car wakes up.
It still every once in a while does get confused , but nowhere as bad as before. I've put over 500 miles on it in the past week . I think I'll do one more fluid change and should be set for awhile. Thank you for all your help.
