upgrade key and lights

RE: upgrade key and lights
Welcome to the forum.
1. I don't know about the key.
2. You can install HID's yes. You can order them from MyDepots which will give you a 14 month warranty or you can order them from SharpHID and get a LIFETIME warranty. I personally went with the SharpHID kit. Apexcone 35w H7 5000K HID's. You will have to figure out what bulb type you need. I.E. mine is an H7 yours could be different.
I just looked yours up and yours is an H7 as well.
What I suggest is the APEXCONE 35w setup from SharpHID's.
http://www.sharphid.com/
-Click the link above.
-Then go to PRODUCTS.
-You will then see this Apexcone Series 35w and 50w HID Kits
Lifetime Warranty - Starting from $200
Click on it.
You want the 35W setup and the H7 bulb type. I also suggest you don't go over 6000K bulb temperature. Your not getting any more light output your actually getting less light output. 4500k-5500k are the bulbs that produce the most light output. 6000K and above you get less light output and the only thing you do get is a color change.

ORIGINAL: S70driver
By the way the install of the HID's takes about 15-30 minutes per side. Not much time at all. Very easy to install.

I know you probably don't have an S80, but do you know if there are any problems with installing HID kits in S80? I've read about a problem on some 2004-2005 S40s where the HID kits blew out the windshield wiper motor ($500 part). How easy is it to install?
Also do you know if battery harness is needed? S80 has battery in trunk.
Finally, how is the beam pattern from the HID vs. the original halogens? How much of an improvement is it in terms of percentage.
Thanks

RE: upgrade key and lights
the key cant be upgraded to the switch blade, thats what my service advisor told me last time I was there.
I wanted that key tooo lol..
s70driver, wont the error message light up on his dashboard with the 35 watt kit (unless it comes with the voltage adapters) which is why the 55w kit is better?

RE: upgrade key and lights
I installed the 35w kit from SharpHID replacing a cheaper set i got off e-bay. I like the SharpHID better (smaller ballast) it works much better with the battery kit as the DRL will cause problems without it (lights don't always come on). Even with the "Computer Bulb Out Warning Cancellers" I still got the error message, I "fixed" this by installing fog lights and wiring them into the headlights.
I had 6000k bulbs but now use 5000k they arewhiter I found the 6000k ones to blue.
You wire the battery kit using the positive cable at the firewall and a good ground, I used the one by the air intake.

RE: upgrade key and lights
I was going to buy from sharphid but I found the exact same kit on www.ddmtuning.com for $65.. got the link directly from the apexcone website.. I think I just saved myself a solid $30 or so when you factor in shipping etc... same lifetime warranty etc
ordered a 35w 5000k HID kit, ddm slim (digital) ballast, for my acord though, but I didnt see the use of sharphid if its the same exact product for MUCH less
