I was driving home in my 2000 V40 the other day, and when I was pulling away from a stop sign, there was a slight crashing sound from the gearbox and the car just stopped. The engine continued running. When I tried to pull forward, it just revved and went nowhere. So I tried reverse, with much the same result. I was able to push it into a driveway where I put the transmission into park, but it made a hideous grinding sound and continued to roll backwards as if in neutral. So basically, none of the gears are doing anything anymore. But I checked the ground where the car stopped and there was nothing. No liquid, no metal fragments. I have absolutely no idea what could be wrong
