Default Lighting problem

I’m having a very weird problem with my v50, randomly the headlights and fog lights turned on when I opened the door, and then turns off about 40 or so seconds after the interior lights go off. Then it might flicker on and off repeatedly weather or not the doors are closed, It only happens when the ignition is off I’ve checked engine bay grounds, fuses, and relays problem still occurs.

did you check the door's switches to see if they are sticking?

You have approach and home safe lighting - test both to see if the lights coming on at the wrong time are either approach or home safe - then investigate what turns the offending light on - say if it's the home safe light - the high beam switch turns it on. Measure the time interval - is it 30 seconds? Or the CEM controls lighting - perhaps there is water damage to the CEM

From a V50 owners manual - "Approach lighting This alternative determines the length of time for which the car's lights will remain on when the Approach light button on the central locking system's remote key is pressed. Intervals of 30/60/90 seconds may be selected, see the section "Remote key functions" for more information. Home safe lighting This alternative determines the length of time for which the car's lights will remain on when the high beam lever on the steering column is pulled toward the wheel with the ignition switched off. Intervals of 30/60/90 seconds may be selected, see page 66 for inform"

and from xemodex website describing CEM problems

"

Common Failure Symptoms

P1 Platform CEMs control the majority of the vehicle’s functions, including:
• Interior and exterior lighting
• Front and rear wipers and washers
• Sunroof
• Seat belts
• Seat heaters
• Alarm system
• Accelerator pedal
• Fuel pump
• Fuel level sensor

Ok, I see that the high beam stalk turned them off, but a few times they seem to turn back on, is there a way to disable homesafe lighting?

Home safe is turned on with the turn signal switch? Is it possible there is something broken in it?

According to what I could find that’s how it’s activated, I’ve never used that feature before so I have no idea how it got activated. My key fob doesn’t work to unlock or lock the car so I can’t test it that way, but I can’t turn home safe on anymore, so whatever the problem was it stopped.
