I have volvo v50 2005 2.4i with milage of 204000km . I have driven the car from netherlands all the way to south of france . Once i arrived i morice whining sound coming from the engine. I managed to quick check the car at volvo dealer and it turned out to be the break in oil trap. The moment he lwft out the oil cap the whining stopped. He ensured to me thw i can drive back the car (1000km) to netherlands without an issue and i can fix it there. Can any body help and asvise whether thia issue is a major or minor problem that can wait till back home and fix it there ? Does that have any future wffect on the engine life or performance . Thanks for help in advance .

 

I had similar symptoms on a 2002 S60 and i had to replace the oil trap box which was clogged.
