Question 01 V70 2.4T Ghost Transmission

Hello everyone. I have an 01 V70 2.4T with 136K miles. The car is perfect and everything works except for one nagging problem. The transmission runs great 90% of the time, shifting smooth and on time. 10% of the time, (less when it's cold, more when it's hot), it shifts rough and sometimes pauses then slams into gear when going around a slow right hand turn. The car has been to the dealer and several shops and without any help. The transmission was flushed as the dealer recommended, but that didn't help. I have noticed during the winter it is less often, and it seems to only occur after it has heated up. Could this be a computer issue or some other transmission sensor? I can't imagine a transmission running perfect or terrible, almost like a switch. In my experience, transmission failures occur overtime but slowly get worse, never get better. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!

Has it been checked for trans or engine trouble codes?

yaitsgood, what you describe is the exact same problem i have with my 01 v70 2.4t.
(which will next week turn into a new nissan pathfinder lol),
I will give you a few tips on prolonging the life of your transmission.
1. flush it again
2. Add a transmission additive lubeguard is excellent.
3. get the neutral control disabled if it is enabled (only a dealer can disable it)
4. flush it once a year or every 20,000km.
The damage is irreversable, but you can nurse the tranny through, My issues started about 45,000km ago, i have used the above guide lines and although my issues do return after about 20,000km or about once a year these few steps help my transmission no end....

good luck
v70 2.4t

I have the same V70 year/model as you. I didn't have any serious shifting issue like you but did have a little shifting irregularity.......it didn't ingage in reverse once and shifting a little harsh occasionally. My local Volvo dealer checked it out and recommended re-installing the transmission TCM software which seemed to improve the shifting. Only downside: Cost $140

Replace the B4 servo cover. $20 kit from IPD. It's a known issue.
