Default Bad Starter...

I've only had my '01 V70 2.4T for a week, and I've already had to have it towed to the shop. They tell me it's a bad starter.

They want $380 for the part + ~$150 in labor. However, after a bit of Googling, I found the part for $186 and it sounds like I can do it myself. Does anyone have any guidance / instructions on this? I'm not a mechanic by any stretch, but it sounds like it's as simple as popping off the old and bolting on the new.

Also, is towing it home w/ a tow strap going to be a problem? The manual makes it sound like a scary and horrible thing to do. It's <10 miles...

Thanks!

Nevermind. Shop lied. Called back and said it was a bad connection -- same diagnosis Google gave me last night! Might as well delete this whole thread, mods.

It wouldn't hurt to pick up a Haynes manual to get familiar with the lighter stuff.
IPD and FCP carry it. Haynes # 4262.
Towing is no fun.
