Default Flooded V70

How bad is the following going hurt? Yesterday 4/15, thanks to the Noreaster in Eastern NC, our V70 hit flash flood waters and died. The water level where we stopped was about 1/2" away from pouring into the car when I opened the door to walk out. This afternoon the car made it the dealer, where I was informed water had entered the engine, this was supported by oil level surpassing the overflow mark. The service rep's only question was if I had heard from the adjustor yet.

Only little bits of information coming in so far. Spoke with the service rep and only way to fully determine the extent of the damage is to start taking the engine part. They have pulled the plugs out hoping this will assist in drying out the engine. They would like to be able to start the engine to check for rod damage, if a rod is damage then the engine is toast and the rep would not commit on the cost of a new motor. The insurance company doesn't really want to pay the dealer to hunt for needles in the haystack just yet.

Good luck, i hope the electrical system is ok, once you have a gremlin
inside they are very hard to remove, the V70 is electrically complex, as most new cars are these days.
I would say they will replace the motor, it's cheaper than pulling it all down to find problems..
good luck.

An update - mostly good news for now. They feel they were able to get all of the water out of engine. Went through and replaced all filters, fluids, and plugs. Actually changed the oil three times after vacuuming out the engine to hopefully ensure all of the water has been removed. The car has been road tested and so far no issues. Supposedly all electrical items are on go as well. Time will tell.
