Default Intermittent Cranking Problems

Hi All, I need help with mom's 98 V70 again. When she tries to start it, occasionally will not crank. She brought it to the local mechanic and he replaced the battery (for $200)! and it's still doing the same thing. I understand that this model may have the immoblizer and chip key. What can I check to confirm that either the Antenna ring or the Key is going bad and causing this. Thanks in advance! Tim

I would clean the maf sensor with a cleaner specifically designed for that part (autozone, pep boys), check the thermostat heat sensor/thermostat and check for battery ground connection and loose vaccum hoses.

My car had an intermittent starting issue that was due to the thermostat heat sensor....easy cheap fix. GL!

When It will crank, it starts up just fine. The problem is that the starter will not turn the engine over. Thanks for the advice though.
