I have a 1998 V70 XC Wagon and the transmission mode switch isn’t working. I have explained this in a better note but it’s not allowing me to post it. The note is on 250 words?? Anyway help the switch won’t work but winter mode does.

 

Maybe the Led is burned out? You really don't feel all that much between Economy and sport.

 

I drive like a "Pa" most of the time and before I took the car in at a steady 30 mph you could switch it from Economy to Sport and the rpm's and tranny would switch. Move it back and the rpm's would drop. I do this now and nothing happens? Again the winter mode works fine? What else can I check?

 

Have the tranny codes pulled. Or the switch might just be bad.

 

Do you mean by using a special tranny code reader? I've put a ODBII scanner on it and there are no codes. THis is one my friend has. Maybe it needs to be a "real" scanner to see this? Let me know and I'll go have them read if this is what you mean but as far as I know I had this at another place and they were unable to fix it either. Maybe I need Volvo to fix it :-(

 

Yes have the transmission codes read. The scanner needs to be able to read tranny codes.

 

You need a new PNP switch and if you keep on driving it this way, a new transmission!

 

To qualify this better it's in Sport mode now. Winter mode works as it should by starting out in second or whatever it does but Economy isn't working. I drive this car very gently and don't abuse it at all but it would be nice to not have to speed up to shift up to slow down!
