Default V70 Blower keeps failing

Hi, I’m looking for advice about why my 2004 blower resistor on my 2004 V70XC keeps failing. When I bought this car the blower did work. It had a climate control unit from a 2005 I think and the plastic frame/box also didn’t fit a 2004 climate control unit. I bought a new unit on eBay and twice replaced the resistor with an OEM resistor from Parts Geek (the genuine Volvo parts are dreadfully over priced), and the blower worked for a month or so. Finally I replaced both the resistor and blower motor with Parts Geek stuff and after a few months the blower has stopped again while the rest of climate control seems to be working (ac, heat, all the light etc). Before I hack up the blower controls with a switch and resistor from some other car manufacturer I’m hoping someone has a fix for this problem.

thanks, Chlo

What brand of parts does "parts geek" sell? Maybe that's why genuine parts are over priced - they work for more than a month.

To save money - find a used original resistor, they don't fail very often, and make sure there are no melted connections at the fan or resistor.

Same fan and resistor is used in all svxc 60,70,90 from 2001-07 and to 2014 in the xc90's

And hey if you buy parts from FCP they have a lifetime warranty, that feature some find valuable.
