The passenger side Low Beam Headlight Socket Burned out and I am trying to find a replacement. I have a OSRAM H11 Bulb that I'd like to connect to the socket. I see so many different socket choices, not sure which one to get.
1. Which socket will fit the Light Bulb?
2. How do I connect the new socket to the power source? Do I solder or splice the new wires together or is there a plug to connect to the power source.
Pictures attached.
1. is the driver side connection which works.
2. is the passenger side socket which needs to be replaced and connected to the power source. Driver side works Passenger side socket needs to be replaced.
you didn't mention which model year you have but finding a new socket should prove fairly easy since you know the socket number and that you have H11 bulbs. You can find replacement sockets at any of the big box auto parts stores such as Autozone where you'd need to spice in the wire. I'd recommend using solder and a heat shrink insulator - most likely that will come with the replacement socket. As an alternative you can shop at a Volvo dealer parts store and get the genuine Volvo replacement for $5 more. (I use tasca parts since they are here in New England... but there are others. If somebody is going to have a complete wire with connectors on both ends, it would be the dealer store.
looks like it - but also search on parts store web sites like napa online or autozone, you may find something cheaper. I think Tasca had the Genuine Volvo part for $11
does it matter? are the wires color coded? Usually red is + and black is ground. If you are unsure, use your VOM to test the wired socket for which is ground
