2002 XC70 cranks but won’t start replaced ecm
Filled gas tank and was driving home stalled 3 times checked with scanner code P0607 showing ecm failure. Sent ecm to be rebuilt now car will not start. Cranks but that’s all
The company is G7 in a town south of Rochester NY. They sent me a note that the problem might not be ecm. I filled my gas tank and car stalled out 3 times coming home. Hooked up Innova 3120 and the code was P0607 indicating ecm. I am wondering if it’s fuel pump or ? Replaced plugs and coils prior to this. I don’t want to go to the dealer again. Thanks
When googled (is that a word?) I find a G7 company that does "fix" automotive stuff. If you think it's an ECM problem and want someone that has the most experience - you could try xemodex.com.
Or that generic code may not tell you much - https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...426-Code-P0607
But - I'm sure it's possible - however in 19 years of fixing 1999+ canbus Volvos, I never had to replace a bad Engine control unit.

This is crazy. Had a 89 240 wagon and same thing full tank and wouldn’t start the next day. Also a dodge pickup same thing that needed fuel pump. I know I probably won’t be able to figure this out alone and appreciate the help. These cars are so engineered it makes it tougher. What do you suggest?
A reasonable diagnostic process - I always used VIDA that would give concrete suggestions, and live data could be monitored. For a 2002 a fuel pressure gauge would be helpful also, fuel pressure is not in VIDA for that year - The canbus cars can be very hard even for a professional to diagnose properly - the first time.
"Hooked up Innova 3120" - the $150 one? Vida is free, you just need your own win 7pro cpu and a ~$80 dice unit. Or a guy sells Vida on a bootable USB stick for $100 (plus a Dice unit)

my problem is related to this thread, but, i am not answering the initial problem, drove a couple of miles to grocery store, came out 5 mins later, car cranked, almost caught, than failed to start, tried again, crank, no start. *#Y%. well, tried cranking enough times to run the battery down. later in day, picked-up battery, charged for 4 hrs, put back in, fired right up. i've already read through enough 'reasons' the car wouldn't start, but, did not believe that was my problem. could removing the battery for a few hours and installing back in, fully charged, cleared any conditions that may have prevented the car from starting ? thanks
