Default XC70 transmission top up

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I top up the auto transmission fluid on my 2002 XC70? Can't even find the dipstick at the moment, and the handbook is no help.

PS: Found this link to maintenance schedule for this car:

There is a yellow dipstick below the lower radiator hose on the trans.

Thanks - I see it. But I don't believe it. Do Volvo go out of their way to make DIY maintenance difficult?

Well, I've owned S-Classes for 17 years, and even the V8s you could do all the servicing on yourself (including transmission) with tools from Halfords. The only specialist Merc tool I ever needed was a tappet lock-nut spanner for the straight six.

I asked at my local Volvo coven what magic I would need to switch off the irritating "running lights" - turns out you need some special software, supplied (you will have guessed it) only by Volvo.

Drives better than an S-Class, though...
