Default 2004 XC90 T6 Trouble starting

I have a 2004 XC90 T6 that is having trouble starting. It turns over and some times cranks right up and other times it just turn over with no attempt to fire/start, and then some times it will catch after a prolong turning over and crank. I have replaced the crank and cam sensors to no avail. I finally broke down and took it to the dealer and they first replaced the Battery, that had no effect either. They are at a loss as well. Volvo is now recommending replacing the starter because their theory is the magnetic field from the starter motor is interfering with the crank sensor and that the motor could be going bad. I don't by this. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Has anyone ever experienced this type of starting problem and if so, what was the fix? I am open to suggestions.
