Default 2005 XC90 Hazards turn on and off by themselves

Hello. I am new to these forums. While my girlfriend was driving the other day, all the electronics died when she turned left into a parking garage. She was able to drive the car for 3 mins until she found a parking spot. She said it drove normal. She turned the car off and back on and all seemed to be working fine, electronics all turned back on. The only noticeable change at first was the SRS Airbag light turned on.

But after that, the hazards will turn on and off automatically wether the car is on or off. 5 mins, 30min, 2 mins, there doesn't seem to be a pattern, until the battery is drained. I unplugged the Hazard switch in the dash to see if that was the problem, but the Hazards keep flashing the same anyway.

I searched these forums for a short bit, but didn't find any helpful information.

Any thoughts? I read that it might be a faulty CEM, but I'd rather rule out other simpler fixes before I spend the money and time replacing that.

Thanks,
Bill

sounds like a stuck relay. Check the owners manual for the diagram to see where it is.

Thanks for the reply! I'm having a hard time finding the relay. On older model XC90s, the online manuals seem to clearly point to a relay location. On the 2005, I can't locate it, It's not listed in the manual that I can see. Some online forums are saying it's included in the Hazard switch, but I just unplugged that and the turn signals still work fine. Is it located in the steering wheel column? I can't seem to find this information online.

On a side note, I thought I'd disconnect the turn signals completely when not driving to prevent the hazards from draining the battery, but the fuses on this 2005 that are labeled turn signals (#29 & 30 by the rear hatch) don't seem to stop them when pulled. Anybody know the proper turn signal fuse on a 2005?
