We have been having a rather strange issue with our car. Randomly and frequently when driving, or when trying to start the car, we get key removed from vehicle message( Key is always in it's special key spot). We have had the car into the dealer 3 times for the issue. First time they thought it was key batteries( happens with both keys), second time they thought it was a software updated needed. Third time they told us engineering informed they it is a known issue, related to having car charger in the front causing signal interference. No fix at this time, solution use rear charger( which to me is ridiculous). Today, guess what, message came back on with no charger in the front, only in the rear. Car is going back in again to the dealer, which as you can imagine is quite frustrating. Dealer told me they would contact Volvo engineering again. Has anyone else heard of this issue, if so what did Volvo do to resolve if anything? Thanks in advance.

 

had a similar experience with a rental car (Ford Escape not a Volvo). I had to lock/unlock the car then moved the key to a different spot. Did you try a different model of car charger?

 

I don't think we tried a different model charger, will give that a shot. Thanks.
