Default Broken Plastic Tube near Oil Cap?

I have a 2006 XC90 2.5T and noticed that there is a broken black plastic tube about 3/4" in diameter. It comes out of the front top side of the engine just below the oil cap, and continues down the front connecting back in to the engine further below. I think it is just for balancing low pressure?

No engine lights, no change in performance.

What it this, what does it do and where can I replace it?

Thank you in advance.

You can replace the hose w/o taking major stuff apart, the top cover you have to loosen the turbo hose over it and remove all the t-30s. Hopefully your oil trap is not on its way out, the dealer can do a quick check on it at the dipstick.

I believe it is called a pcv hose. I realize you have posted this days ago. Have you been able to get this fixed? I currently have the same problem with my xc90 and the dealership is closed until Monday. I'm hoping it isn't to expensive to replace. What is your experiences so far?

It is somewhat expensive to replace. The intake manifold has to come off to replace the hose. Some people might be able to sneak in and replace it without removing the intake.
But you have to remove the throttle body and a few other things to do it.

My regular mechanic said he's can do it. I just not sure he knows what you just told me. Anything you can tell me man would be great I'm planning on taking this thread with me once I get the part. I'm assuming I'll need to get a few gaskets too?

You will need an intake gasket.
Also there might be a bango fitting on the bottom side of the intake manifold by the power steering pump it is a pain to get out.
If you are going that far you might just want to replace the vent box and other hoses as well. This way you do not have to do it again in a few months.
