Default Broken vacuum tube near MAF

I just found a broken vacuum tube between MAF and air intake hose. I will definitely replace this, but where should I connect it to? The other end may pop off, as I did not find it.

To O2 sensor? my best guess...

Does it look like this orange hose? (Location-wise not necessarily the same color)

If so, this vac line connects to a nipple on the bottom of the air intake close to the MAF.

Yes, that is the vac line I found. I checked again and there is a nipple close to the hose clamp. I can touch it but hardly to see it clearly.

What is that for? I did not get any bad drive without this connection.

It is a 97 GLT, "lower" turbo version.

The picture is exactly the same as Saleen's.

Last weekend I took off my air intake hose to clean it out. After reassembling I forgot to reconnect this hose and noticed my car idled rougher than usual. After reconnecting it was back to normal.

Maybe after being disconnected so long, you are used to the rough idling.

For me it was not extremely rough but felt like the engine was skipping a beat every couple seconds (very slight loss of power for an instant).

Well, I connected the nipple using spare vac line. I did not feel any difference yet.

My '95 850 has that tube loose and I feel no difference in the idle or preformance. May be a different story about I redo my PVC system this weekend.

So you have a vac line connected to the nipple. Where does the other end of the vac line connect?

The other end connected to the air intake host from MAF.

Maybe this will help clarify...

It connects under the air intake hose.

The air intake hose is the large black hose that runs from the airbox to the turbo behind the engine. It has an accordian-like appearance.

The nipple you are looking for should be on the part of the air intake hose very close to the airbox. Just reach your hand under and feel for a nipple.

You are all right. I did connect the nipple you mentioned to the vacuum line.

I am posing the picture above as I thought the nipple should be like that.

the airbox thermostat is in the lower part of the airbox.if you have ever taken the airbox out you will notice the flaps that open and close to adjust cold or hot air to flow depending on the engine temp.if you are bored one day you might want to take out the thermostat and test to see if it is still working.or you can rig it to stay open to the cold intake all the time for better performance
