Default Climate control sensor

Good Afternoon,
The climate control temperature has been acting erratically on my 2012 Volvo XC90. Am planning on changing the climate control sensor but am a bit confused, I am planning on ordering Volvo part number 8691666 which states Volvo Cavin air temperature sensor, fan... Is this part just the fan or is it the sensor and the fan in one unit.

Thanks a million for any assistance.

Pete

Exactly what does your system do wrong?

The part you are looking at is just the fan that sucks air across the temp sensor. The temp sensor is part of the CCM. You can see the sensor through the little grill on the front of the CCM. They get covered in dust and can malfunction due to the dust - and are damaged when people try to clean them.

Here's someone replacing the actual temp sensor - it's soldered on inside the control unit.

Thanks a million for your response... Have a couple of other questions.
1. Looking through the little vent, the thermister wire is broken and I believe this is part of the circuit board... Does anyone repair these?
2. I did find a replacement control unit on Ebay with all the buttons along the bottom that my car has plus two additional... Would this unit work as a replacement or would the computer be looking for something that isn't installed.

The new units are over $1K I believe.

Thanks for your help.

1. The you tube video in my previous post is someone soldering in a new thermister

2. I'm certain you can find many of those for sale - will they work in your car? In theory no, they have to be programmed with a VIDA download. I've never tried a used one, have only installed new ones with a download needed to make it work. As far as I know you can't "reprogram" a used unit to work in your car either.

These people would have the answers about repairs and used -
