My Volvo XC 90 V8 makes a clunk noise if I sudden accelerate or decelerate. I believe it Is the from engine mounting that needs replacement. However, I have 360,000 Km on this vehicle now and I am selective on spending money on it. Any problems if I continue driving without fixing this?

 

Typically those devices are meant to limit the roll of the engine. so if the roll of the engine is more than the the normal stops are, then the torque will be outside normal operating zones. Which means the something will be damaged sooner than later. Whether the damage is limited to an exhaust system, or drive shaft, is beyond my knowledge.

I just replaced all of them. The passenger side had to be done in conjunction with the others being loosen. Wish I could tell you that the conical ones were going to be fine with out replacing, but i don't know.

Looks like I picked up the conical ones from Amazon for 35 apiece, 40 for the lower trans mission mount. I think I picked up the upper mount from NAPA or something. I had recieved a complementary inspection from the dealer, and they pointed out everything that needed to be replaced. the upper motor stablizer had no rubber connected to the spindle/axle bolt, then the right lower was shot to. I was able to find help on youtube, and mathewsvolvosite. Some of it was easy, some was PIA. (rear conical), passenger side was somewhat, but not much of PIA.
