Engine problem at 3x,xxx miles… warranty?
Hi all, my brother has a problem with his XC90 and he took it to the dealership and they are asking for oil change records. Is this normal? Also brother tells me he did do an pol change just doesn’t remember exactly when. Does it matter when or how often he did an oil change for the dealer to honor the warranty?

This sounds like a Quora bot question - like the one I saw recently that said "I had my oil changed at Walmart and my engine died due to no oil.".. what is the nature of his problem? You can also go online to Volvo's web site and read the warranty language. Note if the car has been serviced at a dealer, a simple Carfax report will contain the maintenance visits but afaik there's nothing in the warranty requiring dealer service. As a general practice, you should keep a file with all of maintenance receipts whether the work is done by a dealer, indy or simply showing you bought the parts and did the work yourself. It adds value to the car on resale and helps track any known issues.

From what I have read Volvo will not honor warranties unless the dealer has done all the service during the time in which you have applied for a warranty claim. This is from what I have seen on this forum group. This is in the USA as I remember. Also very little "goodwill" repairs either. You need to keep all service invoices for your car. I have a book on each of my Volvos.
